PARTNERING
Working Together for a Better Project
The success of the project necessitates a great deal of teamwork and cooperation from numerous stakeholders. To facilitate the process, Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) has committed to use a process called Partnering. Partnering allows a systematic approach to developing the spirit of teamwork and cooperation through shared goals and open communication. Adhering to the principals of partnering helps identify problems early in the process so that action plans for problem solving and formal conflict resolution can be developed. For partnering to be successful, it requires all stakeholders to actively participate.
Meetings
To kick off the project, a Partnering Workshop was held. Workshop participants conducted team building exercises, generated a code of conduct, brain stormed to identify issues, threats and opportunities, discussed action planning, membership responsibilities and expected deliverables, and developed and committed to a mission statement.

Roles & Responsibilities
The Partnering members are made up of 3 groups: The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), Consultants, and an Executive Committee. All members have committed themselves to actively participate in generating a successful alternative transit recommendation that meets FTA guidelines, enables the City of Tucson to apply for federal funding as part of the Federal Transit Administration's "Small Start" funding opportunities and to complete the project while adhering to the integrity of the mission statement.
