How the Liaison Group is Helping

Representatives of key community stakeholder groups located within the project study area were asked to participate in a Transit On The Move Community Liaison Group (CLG). The group is part of the extensive community outreach campaign utilized to ensure widespread public awareness of the alternative transit options under consideration. Interested parties can obtain information and provide input on the project during all stages to help shape its course and direction.

The group's role is to communicate Transit Study information and public meeting schedules to their colleagues and neighbors. CLG members were key participants to providing public feedback and views on the Phase I alternative transit solutions being considered. Regular meetings were scheduled to ensure that the CLG was provided with up to date information. At the final Phase I meeting on October 6, 2005, the CLG voted unanimously to support the 6th Street alignment and the modern streetcar as the recommended alternative and technology. During Phase II on February 28, 2007 the CLG voted to support a revised alternative that extended the alignment on the west side to Congress Street. On April 4, 2007, the Mayor and Council also approved the revised Locally Preferred Alternative.

The CLG continues to meet and provide input during Phase II. CLG meetings are open to the public and posted on this website. Interested parties can obtain information and provide input on the project during all stages to help shape its course and direction.
